Let us introduce you to Nathan & Joel
At Air Extreme, we believe in the importance of fostering career journeys and are proud to have a number of team members who started with us as Apprentices and have since stepped into other roles.
Nathan started his Apprenticeship journey in 2006 when he relocated to Newcastle to play football at the age of 23, and wanted a full-time career at the same time. He started at Air Extreme in the early days of the company and has simultaneously grown with us.
Through a combination of practical and theoretical learning, Nathan has developed an impressive skillset within the trade, which has led him to his current role as Residential Supervisor.
Whilst learning, Nathan enjoyed gaining hands-on experience on both residential and commercial sites while completing his Cert III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration at TAFE. Taking a comprehensive approach provided Nathan with a well-rounded learning environment – which we feel is crucial to gain a solid understanding of the trade.
Nathan mostly enjoys the flexibility and work-life balance that is provided for the team at Air Extreme and can safely say that the good times with his teammates don’t stop at the end of their shift.
“If you’re considering starting your Apprentice journey at Air Extreme, give it a crack,” Nathan said.
“It’s a unique trade that has a lot of opportunities for career growth, and every day is different.”
Joel joined Air Extreme as an Apprentice in 2010. His Apprenticeship journey was sparked after completing six months of electrician work experience through school.
He wasn’t completely sold on being an electrician and decided to try out a niche version of the trade -air conditioning and refrigeration.
Throughout the onboarding process, the team thoroughly guided him each step of the way, removing any uncertainty that arose.
He then joined the team on-site and gained hands-on experience at both residential and commercial sites. This allowed Joel to overcome any concerns that he had in relation to industry-specific processes.
Joel said his favourite parts of working for Air Extreme include working for a great team and feeling supported every step of the way. Joel’s Apprenticeship Journey has since allowed him to progress to a Commercial Installer role. When asked for his main advice to anyone thinking of applying for an Apprenticeship he said,
“Definitely apply, it’s a great team and you’ll have a lot of opportunities to learn new things.”

We are looking for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year Air Conditioning Apprentices to join our team for 2023/2024.
